Today we learn of the sad deaths of Harold Fortescue and Frank Larkinson, both of Bourne who died today serving their country with the 8th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment around Loos in France

Today we learn of the sad death of Joseph Parker Taylor of Morton who died today serving his country with the 7th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment in Belgium.

Today we learn of the sad deaths 7 of our local soldiers fighting for their contry in Gallipoli. All were killed in action serving with the 6th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment in what are the worst losses for our area reported in any single day of this war.

Today we learn of the sad death of G Frederick Gibson of Billingborough who died today serving his country in training with the 3rd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment in Grimsby.

Today we learn of the sad death of Ernest Carr of Witham-on-the-Hill who died today serving his country with the 307th Company Army Service Corps, Motor Transport .

Today we learn of the sad death of Pte. George Porter of Langtoft who died today serving his country with the 7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottsv and Derbys), wounded at the front and today died of wounds in Etaples.

He will be missed by all in the village, his sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Today we learn of the sad death of Battery Sergeant William Edward Gay of Langtoft who died today serving his country with the 6th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. William had been in the Army for quite a number of years. Our condolences to his wife Lilly, his parents and his brother Henry who is also in the Army.

He will be missed by all in the village, his sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Today we learn of the sad deaths of two of our young men of Bourne James Burt and Edward James Backlog both serving with the 1st Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment in the Ypres sector of our lines in Belgium. Our condolences to their families.

Today we learn of the sad death of Amos Stubley of Baston who died today after being discharged only 4 days ago from serving his country with the 3rd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. Our sympathies are with his Grandparents James and Betsy Stubley.
