Bourne

Today we learn of the sad death of Able Seamen Tom Knowles who died today serving his country. Tom, who joined the navy before the war, was drowned when he was washed overboard from HM Torpedo Boat No 7 in the vicinity of North Knock Buoy in the Thames Estuary. Our sympathies go to his Parents William and Jane Knowles of Morton, his brothers Lance-Sergeant Harry Knowles who is serving with the 2nd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment and Gunner Arthur Knowles serving with the Royal Field Artillery both posted with the Expeditionary Force.

He will be missed by all, his sacrifice will not be forgotten.
