A stray is what we would call a man that grew up in one of our villages but never appeared on that village memorial or of other memorials in our area. The usual reason was that they moved away before the war and also their parents or siblings also moved away, thus there was no relative left in the village to add them to the list for the village memorial. These men and their families were part of pre-war village life and will be remembered on this page.
