Bourne

Today we learn of the sad death of Ernest Codling of Bourne who died today serving his country with the 1st 4th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. Ernest had joined the territorial force early in 1913 and was called up when war was declared. Our sympathies have been sent to Mr and Mrs John Codling of 3 Woodview Bourne for the sad loss of their son.

Today we also had news of the sad death of Abel seamen Cecil Armstrong Hornsey of Bourne. Cecil was serving with the Royal Navy on  board H.M.S. Brisk when he was accidentally knocked overboard by the recoil of No 4 gun.

They will be missed by all, their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Today we learn of the sad death of Ordinary Seamen George Henry Rix of Bourne who died today serving his country with the Royal Navy on board HMS Cornwallis, in Gallipoli.

He will be missed by all, his sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Edenham

Today we learn of the sad death of Arthur Holland of Edenham who died today serving his country with the 1st Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment in Belgium.

We also learn of the sad loss of the Rt Hon Peter R. H. D. Willoughby, 1st Son of the Earl and Countess of Ancaster, killed whilst serving with The Royal Navy on board HMS Monmouth.

They will be missed by all in the village, their sacrifice will not be forgotten.
